Job description
GSL Education is seeking a compassionate, patient, and proactive Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to work on a 1:1 basis with a primary-aged pupil with Special Educational Needs (SEN). This full-time position is due to start in September and will be based in a supportive and inclusive primary school in Chelmsford.
The successful candidate will play a key role in helping the child access the curriculum, manage daily routines, and build confidence and independence within a nurturing learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide tailored support to a specific pupil with SEN on a 1:1 basis throughout the school day

Implement strategies outlined in the pupil’s EHCP or individual learning plan

Assist the pupil in managing emotions, focus, and transitions during lessons and activities

Work collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCO, and external specialists to ensure consistent support

Record and report on progress, behaviour, and key developments as required

Help create a positive, engaging, and safe learning environment for the pupil
Requirements:

Previous experience supporting children with SEN, preferably in a school setting

A calm, caring, and adaptable approach

Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust with children and staff

A genuine passion for supporting children’s learning and emotional well-being

Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)

Relevant training in SEN, autism, ADHD, or emotional regulation (desirable but not essential)
