HLTA – Secondary School | Full-Time | September Start

Are you an experienced and confident Higher Level Teaching Assistant looking to make a real difference in secondary education?

A welcoming and inclusive secondary school in the Colchester area is seeking a dedicated HLTA to join their team from September. This is a fantastic opportunity to support teaching and learning while playing a key role in the academic progress and personal development of students.

Location: Colchester
Start Date: September 2025
Contract: Full-time, long-term
Salary: £90-£150 per day  (depending on experience and qualifications)


 

About the Role:

  • Provide high-quality classroom support across Key Stages 3 and 4
  • Deliver small group or 1:1 interventions to support student progress
  • Plan and deliver lessons under the guidance of teaching staff when required
  • Cover classes during teacher absence, ensuring continuity of learning
  • Support students with SEND and those needing additional help to access the curriculum
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff to monitor progress and adapt support accordingly

  • HLTA qualification or equivalent experience in a secondary setting
  • Strong behaviour management and excellent communication skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students and staff
  • A proactive, flexible, and supportive attitude to learning and inclusion
  • A genuine passion for helping students reach their potential
