Job Title: Disability Support Assistant – Personalised SEN Care
Location: Hailsham
Salary: £90 - £100 per day (Depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Full-time, Long-term

GSL Education are seeking a Disability Support Assistant to join a specialist school in Hailsham. This is a fulfilling opportunity for someone with experience in care, SEN, or support work who thrives in a 1:1 or small group setting and can provide tailored, compassionate care to pupils with additional needs.
About the Role:
As a Disability Support Assistant, you’ll offer hands-on, individualised support to pupils with a range of needs including autism, mobility challenges, speech and language delays, and sensory processing disorders. You’ll help them access learning, build independence, and feel safe and supported throughout the school day.
Key Responsibilities:

Deliver personal care and mobility assistance where required

Use communication tools like Makaton, PECS, and visual aids

Support students with medical or physical needs in line with care plans

Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and staff

Promote a calm, nurturing and inclusive classroom environment

Monitor pupil progress and contribute to EHCP and SEN targets
Job Requirements:

Experience supporting individuals with disabilities or complex needs (in schools, care, or community settings)

Understanding of SEN strategies and communication techniques

Ability to work with empathy, patience, and resilience

Relevant training in manual handling, personal care, or first aid is desirable

Have an updated CV and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one)
