Cover Supervisor (CS) – Portsmouth, Hampshire

GSL Education are excited to offer a flexible opportunity for a Cover Supervisor (CS) to work across schools in Portsmouth. This rewarding role starts ASAP and offers a competitive daily rate of £100 to £130, depending on experience. This role suits graduates, aspiring teachers, or those with classroom experience who are looking to build confidence and take the next step in education. Whether you’re seeking daily supply or a long-term opportunity, we can offer consistent, full-time or part-time work that is flexible and fits around you. You can pick and choose the days you wish to work. 5 days per week available if needed.
Responsibilities of Cover Supervisor:
- Lead the classroom in the absence of the class teacher, following set lesson plans and maintaining a positive learning atmosphere
- Support students by ensuring they remain engaged, focused, and on task throughout the lesson
- Uphold school behaviour policies with professionalism and composure
- Report any incidents or concerns to the appropriate school staff
- Adapt to different school environments, building rapport with students and staff across the week
Requirements:
- Excellent classroom management and confidence working with secondary-aged students
- A flexible, proactive attitude and the ability to step into various subjects as needed
- Strong communication skills and a calm, approachable manner
- Previous experience working with secondary-aged pupils as a Cover Supervisor (CS) is desirable.
- A degree in Education, psychology or a similar field.
- CACHE Level 2/3 or NVQ Level 2/3 in Teaching Assistant or similar.
- A desire to work in education – ideal for graduates or individuals considering teacher training
- Have an updated CV and an enhanced DBS registered on the update service or be willing to apply for one
