Are you passionate about inclusive education and looking to gain hands-on experience in a special needs setting?
GSL Education are looking for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Eastbourne that supports pupils with a range of additional needs, including autism (ASD), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, sensory processing challenges, and moderate learning difficulties (MLD).

About the Role:
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to deepen their experience working in a SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) environment. You’ll support students 1:1 and in small groups, helping them access learning, build confidence, and feel secure in their school environment.

Key Responsibilities:
• Support pupils with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, or speech and language needs in the classroom
• Use visual aids, PECS, or Makaton to promote understanding
• Help maintain structure and routine for pupils who thrive with consistency
• Work alongside teachers, therapists, and support staff to deliver inclusive education
• Encourage emotional regulation, social interaction, and positive behaviour
• Assist with differentiated learning activities based on pupils’ EHCPs

Job Requirements:
• Some experience in a SEND school, PRU, or with children with additional learning needs
• Understanding of key SEN strategies (e.g., visual schedules, sensory integration, communication aids)
• Calm, caring, and committed approach
• Updated CV and an enhanced DBS registered on the update service (or willingness to apply)

What We Offer:
• Competitive daily rate of £90–£100
• A supportive team and consistent communication from GSL consultants
• Valuable experience in a SEND-focused learning environment
• Opportunities to develop skills in special education, behaviour support, and inclusive practice

Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks; including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
