Substitute Teacher – Secondary

Location: Southampton, Hampshire
Salary: £100 – £130 per day (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: September 2025
Contract Type: Full-time

As a Substitute Teacher, you will supervise and deliver pre-prepared lessons in the absence of the regular teacher. You will help ensure a productive learning environment and maintain order in the classroom. This role suits both experienced teachers and confident educators who enjoy working in varied school settings.

Substitute Teacher Responsibilities:

  • Deliver pre-set lessons to secondary students across a range of subjects.
  • Ensure a positive learning atmosphere and manage classroom behaviour.
  • Provide feedback to teaching staff about student engagement and progress.
  • Uphold school policies and promote good conduct among students.
  • Adapt quickly to new classroom environments and routines.
  • Be a consistent, reliable presence across different school sites.

Requirements for Substitute Teacher:

  • Previous teaching experience in a secondary school setting is preferred.
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
  • Confidence in covering various subjects and year groups.
  • A flexible, proactive attitude and commitment to maintaining high educational standards.
  • An enhanced DBS registered on the update service (or willingness to apply for a new one).
