Substitute Teacher – Secondary
Location: Southampton, Hampshire
Salary: £100 – £130 per day (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: September 2025
Contract Type: Full-time

If so, GSL Education are currently seeking Substitute Teachers to support a range of secondary mainstream schools in Southampton. As a Substitute Teacher, you will supervise and deliver pre-prepared lessons in the absence of the regular teacher. You will help ensure a productive learning environment and maintain order in the classroom. This role suits both experienced teachers and confident educators who enjoy working in varied school settings.
Substitute Teacher Responsibilities:
- Deliver pre-set lessons to secondary students across a range of subjects.
- Ensure a positive learning atmosphere and manage classroom behaviour.
- Provide feedback to teaching staff about student engagement and progress.
- Uphold school policies and promote good conduct among students.
- Adapt quickly to new classroom environments and routines.
- Be a consistent, reliable presence across different school sites.
Requirements for Substitute Teacher:
- Previous teaching experience in a secondary school setting is preferred.
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
- Confidence in covering various subjects and year groups.
- A flexible, proactive attitude and commitment to maintaining high educational standards.
- An enhanced DBS registered on the update service (or willingness to apply for a new one).
