Full-Time Secondary Pastoral Support Assistant – School in Southampton, Hampshire!

If so, GSL Education are seeking a committed and compassionate full-time Pastoral Support Assistant to join a secondary school in Southampton, Hampshire. This fulfilling role offers a competitive annual salary between £21,500 to £24,500 and is available to start ASAP.
Responsibilities of the Pastoral Support Assistant (PSA):
- Provide dedicated support to students with Social Emotional Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
- Be on call throughout the school day to assist students in need of pastoral care.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff and other support professionals to ensure a positive and inclusive school environment.
- Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and contribute to school events.
- Support and manage student behaviour in line with the school’s pastoral policies.
- Offer guidance, encouragement, and a listening ear to students facing challenges.
Requirements of the Pastoral Support Assistant (PSA):
- Experience working with young people in an educational or pastoral setting, or transferable skills from roles such as youth worker, social worker, or similar.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to student support.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- An enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one through GSL Education.

Working Hours:
- 8:30am to 3:30pm, Monday to Friday (term time only).
