GSL Education are seeking a committed and compassionate Behaviour Support Assistant (BSA) to join a dynamic secondary school in Southampton. This full-time role offers a competitive annual salary of £21,500 to £24,500, with working hours from 8:30am to 3:30pm, Monday to Friday (term time only). The position is available to start ASAP or from September 2025, depending on your availability.

About the Role

Step into a rewarding position where your support can transform lives. As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you’ll play a vital role in helping students overcome behavioural challenges and thrive in their educational journey. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Student Engagement: Build strong, trusting relationships with students to support their emotional and behavioural development.
  • Crisis Intervention: Provide calm, effective responses to behavioural incidents, helping to de-escalate and resolve conflicts.
  • Mentoring and Guidance: Offer one-on-one and small group support to students, acting as a positive role model.
  • Collaborative Support: Work closely with teachers, pastoral staff, and external professionals to implement tailored behaviour plans.
  • Monitoring Progress: Track student behaviour and progress, contributing to reports and reviews.
  • Inclusive Environment: Promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive school culture.

What We’re Looking in Behaviour Support Assistant

  • Experience in a similar role or transferable skills from youth work, social work, or pastoral care.
  • A genuine passion for supporting young people and promoting positive behaviour.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Resilience, patience, and adaptability in challenging situations.
  • A team player who thrives in a collaborative school environment.
