Secondary Teaching Assistant – Chesterfield
Location: Chesterfield
Pay Rate: £95 - £100 per day (Depending on experience)
Start Date: September 2025
Contract Type: Full-Time

GSL Education are currently seeking a dedicated and empathetic Secondary Teaching Assistant (TA) to join a vibrant school in Chesterfield. This full-time role begins in September and offers the chance to work closely with students who require additional support to thrive both academically and emotionally.
About the Role
As a Secondary Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students with SEMH needs. You’ll work alongside teachers and other professionals to deliver targeted interventions, promote emotional wellbeing, and help create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities of Secondary Teaching Assistant (TA)
- Provide one-on-one and small group support tailored to SEMH students.
- Assist in developing and implementing individual learning and behaviour plans.
- Foster a safe and supportive classroom atmosphere that encourages student engagement.
- Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and external agencies to ensure holistic support.
- Monitor and record student progress, sharing updates with the wider team.
- Promote positive behaviour and model effective social and emotional skills.
Requirements of Secondary Teaching Assistant (TA)
- Previous experience supporting students with SEMH or in a similar role.
- Must hold a valid driving licence.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Relevant qualifications or training in education or SEN support are desirable.
