About the Role:

As a Primary Teaching Assistant in Chesterfield, you will work closely with teachers and support staff to provide tailored support to students with SEMH needs. Your role will be instrumental in creating a nurturing and structured environment that promotes emotional well-being and academic growth.

Key Responsibilities of Primary Teaching Assistant (TA):

  • Provide Classroom Support: Assist teachers in delivering engaging lessons and managing classroom behaviour.
  • Support SEMH Needs: Implement strategies to support students with SEMH, helping them regulate emotions and build resilience.
  • Monitor Progress: Track student development and adapt support strategies to meet evolving needs.
  • Collaborate with Staff and Agencies: Work alongside school staff and external professionals to ensure a holistic approach to student support.
  • Create a Safe Learning Environment: Foster a calm, inclusive, and respectful atmosphere where all students feel secure and valued.
  • Engage and Motivate: Use creative and flexible approaches to engage students and encourage participation.
  • Maintain Records: Keep accurate records of student progress, behaviour, and interventions, sharing insights with relevant stakeholders.

Requirements of Primary Teaching Assistant (TA):

  • Experience: Previous experience supporting children with SEMH or in a similar role is highly desirable.
  • Driving Licence: Must be a driver with access to a vehicle.
  • Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal skills to build trust and rapport with students and staff.
  • Empathy and Patience: A compassionate approach and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Qualifications: Relevant qualifications or training in education or child development (desirable but not essential).
