Textiles Teacher

Location: Selby, North Yorkshire
Start Date: September 2025
Salary:
MPS/UPS; £31,650 - £49,084 per annum

Contract Type: Wednesday to Friday (Part-Time)

Contract Period: Fixed-term (1 year maternity cover)

GSL Education are looking for a passionate and creative Textiles Teacher to cover maternity leave from September 2025 atan Ofsted graded ‘Good’ Client Secondary School in Selby, North Yorkshire.

Textiles Teacher Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and comprehensive lessons in Textiles, aligned with the national curriculum and examination board requirements.
  • Deliver practical and theoretical lessons that nurture creativity, technical skills, and independence.
  • Prepare students for GCSE coursework and practical assessments, ensuring high standards of achievement.
  • Contribute to the development and enrichment of the Design & Technology curriculum, particularly within the Textiles specialism.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, CPD, and whole-school events as required.

Textiles Teacher Requirements:

  • Hold UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching Textiles at secondary level, including GCSE (A-Level desirable).
  • A degree in Textiles, Fashion, Design & Technology, or a related subject.
  • Strong subject knowledge in fabric design, textiles techniques, and practical application.
  • Enthusiasm for inspiring students and fostering a love for Textiles.
  • Hold an Enhanced DBS registered to the update service or be happy to apply for a new one.
