Job Title: Disability Support Assistant
Location: Portslade, East Sussex
Salary: £90 - £110 per day (Depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate or September 2025
Contract: Long-term, Full-time

GSL Education are seeking a committed and compassionate Disability Support Assistant to work in a supportive school in Portslade, East Sussex. This role focuses on providing tailored support to pupils with physical and learning disabilities, enabling them to thrive in their classroom environment.

About the Role:
As a Disability Support Assistant, you’ll work closely with class teachers and SENCOs to implement individualised support plans. This may include assisting with mobility, communication, and personal care as required. You’ll be based within the classroom and also provide one-to-one and small group support, ensuring all students feel empowered and engaged.

Key Responsibilities:
• Support pupils with physical, medical, or learning disabilities in their academic and personal development
• Assist with accessibility and mobility within the school environment
• Foster independence and promote self-confidence in learning
• Collaborate with the teaching team and SEN staff to meet individual needs
• Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with staff and parents
• Uphold a safe and inclusive learning atmosphere

Job Requirements:
• Previous experience supporting children or young people with disabilities in an educational or care setting
• A proactive and nurturing approach to supporting SEN pupils
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively
• Relevant training in personal care, moving and handling, or medical needs is desirable
• Have an updated CV and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one)
