Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA)
Location: Basingstoke
Salary Range: £13.68 to £14.88 per hour (Depending on experience)
Start time: Immediate
Contract: Day-to-Day/Long-Term, Full-time/Part-time

GSL Education are inviting applications for a dedicated and nurturing SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to join a forward-thinking school in Basingstoke. This is an exciting opportunity to work with pupils who require additional support to thrive in a mainstream or specialist classroom setting.

As a SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA), you will support children with a range of complex needs, including ASD, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and SEMH. Your role will be to work closely with teaching staff to create a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment where every child is given the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver 1:1 or small group support tailored to individual EHCP requirements.
  • Foster emotional wellbeing and encourage independence among students.
  • Collaborate with teachers and SENCOs to adjust lesson content and strategies.
  • Monitor student progress and provide regular feedback to the wider team.
  • Help to manage behaviour in line with school policies and personalised plans.
  • Support pupils with personal care needs where required.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience supporting students with SEN in an educational or care setting.
  • A calm, empathetic, and resilient nature, suited to working with vulnerable young people.
  • Sound knowledge of safeguarding and child protection.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Relevant qualifications such as a Level 2/3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent (desirable but not essential).
  • Knowledge of safeguarding practices and behaviour management techniques.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
