Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Wakefield, WF4
Salary: £86 - £100 per day (Depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

GSL Education are looking for a caring and patient SEMH Teaching Assistant (TA) to join a supportive school in Wakefield. In this role, you will help children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs with their learning and daily routines. You will be part of a kind and understanding team that supports each child’s progress and well-being.

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, your help will make a real difference to pupils who may find school life challenging. The school is focused on creating a safe and respectful space for both staff and students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils with SEMH needs in their learning and behaviour.
  • Work with the class teacher to help children reach their goals.
  • Stay calm and patient when helping pupils through difficult situations.
  • Encourage pupils to feel safe, respected, and confident.
  • Keep records of student progress and share updates with the team.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with SEMH needs is desirable.
  • Kind, calm, and understanding approach to support.
  • Able to work well in a team and follow school routines.
  • Good communication skills and a positive attitude.
  • An enhanced DBS certificate on the update service or willingness to apply for one through GSL Education.
