Sports Coach – Secondary (KS3–KS4)
Location: Barnsley, South Yorkshire
Salary: £94 – £115 per day (depending on experience)

Are you passionate about sport and eager to inspire young people through physical activity? GSL Education is currently seeking a confident and energetic Sports Coach to support secondary schools across Barnsley, working with students in Key Stages 3 and 4.

This is an exciting opportunity for individuals with a background in sports coaching or physical education to make a positive impact both in and out of the classroom.

The Role:
As a Sports Coach, you’ll assist PE departments in delivering engaging, inclusive, and high-quality sports sessions. You’ll also help promote healthy lifestyles, encourage teamwork, and support students’ personal development. In addition, you may provide general classroom support when required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver or assist with PE lessons and extra-curricular sports activities.

  • Encourage pupil participation, teamwork, and sportsmanship.

  • Support students with behavioural or additional needs.

  • Help maintain discipline and a positive learning environment.

  • Lead warm-ups, drills, and games, adapting activities to suit a range of abilities.

  • Assist in non-PE lessons as needed.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A background in Sports Coaching, PE, or a related field.

  • Experience working with children or young people (in schools, coaching, or youth work).

  • Confident classroom presence and strong behaviour management skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

  • A proactive and adaptable attitude with a genuine enthusiasm for sport and education.

  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
