Full-Time English Literature Teacher in Southampton, Hampshire (SO16)!

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic full-time English Literature Teacher to join a thriving secondary school in Southampton. This exciting opportunity begins in September 2025 and offers a competitive salary ranging from £30k to £50k per year, depending on experience. A permanent or fixed-term contract is available following a successful probation period, with excellent career progression opportunities for the right candidate.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and thought-provoking English Literature lessons to Key Stage 3 and 4 students.
  • Design and implement a well-structured curriculum that fosters a love for reading, analysis, and critical thinking.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, offering constructive feedback to support academic growth.
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and creativity.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the overall educational experience.
  • Participate in school events, parent evenings, and ongoing professional development.
  • Uphold high standards of behaviour and support students’ personal and academic development.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding and school policies at all times.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Strong subject knowledge and a genuine passion for English Literature.
  • Experience teaching English at Key Stage 3 and 4 (ECTs are warmly encouraged to apply).
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and classroom management skills.
  • Ability to inspire and engage students of all abilities.
  • An Enhanced DBS registered on the update service, or willingness to apply for one through GSL Education.
