Job Title: Cover Supervisor (CS)
Location: Wivenhoe
Salary Range: £90 - £140 per day (Depending on Experience)
Start Time: September 2025
Contract: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

GSL Education are delighted to offer a rewarding opportunity for a dedicated Cover Supervisor (CS) to support a welcoming and well-established primary school in Wivenhoe, beginning in September 2025. This is an excellent route into education for aspiring teachers, graduates, and experienced support staff seeking to advance their careers within a school setting.

About the Role:

As a Primary Cover Supervisor, you will be responsible for delivering pre-set lessons across different year groups in the teacher’s absence. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring classroom routines are maintained, learning continues effectively, and students are supported in a calm and safe environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and supervise classes during short-term teacher absences.
  • Deliver pre-prepared lesson plans and ensure pupils remain on task.
  • Support pupils with their learning and respond to questions when needed.
  • Promote positive behaviour and uphold the school’s values and expectations.
  • Provide feedback to teaching staff regarding pupil engagement and outcomes.
  • Establish a nurturing and respectful rapport with pupils and colleagues.

Job Requirements:

  • A minimum of a Level 3 qualification or a degree (education or childcare-related qualifications are advantageous).
  • Previous experience working with children in a primary school setting is highly desirable.
  • Confidence in managing classroom routines and promoting good behaviour.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
  • A proactive and professional approach with a genuine passion for supporting children.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
