What Does a Cover Supervisor Do?

As a Cover Supervisor, you’ll play a key role in maintaining the smooth running of the school day in the absence of teaching staff. While you won’t be expected to plan lessons, you will be responsible for:

  • Supervising a class during the teacher’s absence and delivering pre-prepared lesson plans.
  • Managing classroom behaviour in line with school policies and ensuring a safe, positive learning environment.
  • Answering general questions from students and keeping them engaged in learning.
  • Supporting pupils to complete the work set, offering encouragement where needed.
  • Reporting back to the regular class teacher or senior leadership about student performance and behaviour.

Who We're Looking For:

  • University students, graduates or individuals interested in a career in education.
  • Confident communicators with the ability to manage a classroom.
  • Reliable, punctual, and adaptable individuals who can hit the ground running.
  • A passion for helping young people learn and succeed.

Experience working with young people (e.g. coaching, mentoring, youth work) is a bonus, but not essential. We provide guidance and support throughout.
