Learning Support Assistant (LSA)
Location: Colchester
Salary: £90- £130 per day (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: September 2025
Contract Type: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

GSL Education seeks a confident Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a welcoming school in Colchester. You will collaborate with teachers and SENCOs to create a positive, engaging, and nurturing classroom experience.
Responsibilities:
- Delivered tailored one-to-one and small group support for students with a range of learning needs.
- Assisted with the delivery of lesson plans and supported classroom-based learning activities.
- Encouraged student growth by promoting confidence, independence, and engagement in their learning.
- Contributed to managing classroom behaviour, fostering a respectful and positive learning environment.
- Modified and differentiated educational materials to suit individual learning preferences and abilities.
- Worked in partnership with teaching staff, SENCOs, and other professionals to support student development.
- Tracked and documented student progress, sharing observations and feedback with the educational team.
- Helped maintain a welcoming, inclusive, and secure classroom environment for all learners.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Education, Psychology, or a similar field.
- Previous experience working as a Learning Support Assistant or in a similar role.
- Relevant qualifications such as CACHE Level 2 or 3, NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare or Teaching Assistance (desirable but not essential).
- A patient, empathetic, and positive approach to supporting students.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with students and staff.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Possess an enhanced DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
