About the Role:
As a Cover Teacher, you will step into the classroom in the absence of the regular teacher, delivering pre-set lessons, maintaining pupil engagement, and upholding the school’s high standards. This role is ideal for experienced educators looking for flexibility and for those seeking to build teaching experience in a supportive primary setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver lessons using plans provided by the class teacher or department.
- Ensure a safe and productive classroom environment.
- Support students with their learning and manage classroom behaviour effectively.
- Maintain continuity in learning during staff absences.
- Liaise with teaching and support staff to ensure student needs are met.
Ideal Candidate Must Have:
- University students in education, child development, or related disciplines are encouraged to apply.
- Prior teaching or classroom-based experience is essential.
- A recognised teaching qualification is desirable but not mandatory for strong classroom practitioners.
- Strong ability to maintain order and support student learning in line with school expectations.
- Willingness to cover various subjects and year groups, adapting to different classroom settings.
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
