Job Title: History Teacher

Salary: £155 - £220 per day (Depending on experience)

About the Role:

As a History Teacher at GSL Education, you will play a pivotal role in helping students explore global events, civilisations, and social movements that have shaped the modern world. Your teaching will encourage critical analysis, empathy, and a deep appreciation for cultural heritage and historical context.

Key Responsibilities of the History Teacher:

  • Deliver engaging and thought-provoking lessons that bring history to life.
  • Plan and adapt lessons to meet the varying needs and abilities of learners.
  • Encourage debate, discussion, and historical investigation.
  • Promote analytical thinking and help students make connections between past and present.
  • Assess pupil progress, provide constructive feedback, and support academic development.
  • Collaborate with teaching colleagues to contribute to a cohesive and enriching curriculum.

History Teacher requirements:

  • A relevant degree in History or a closely related field, alongside Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Proven experience in teaching History at both primary and secondary level, with a solid understanding of the national curriculum and key stage assessments.
  • A passion for history and a strong ability to engage students with diverse historical periods, events and perspectives.
  • Excellent classroom management skills, with the ability to create a disciplined and motivating learning environment.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to engage students, colleagues and parents effectively.
  • The ability to inspire students to appreciate the importance of history in understanding the present and shaping the future.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
