GSL Education are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join a mainstream primary school in Weymouth, Dorset, as a Classroom Assistant. This is a full-time opportunity suitable for anyone passionate about supporting children’s learning, including university students keen to gain practical classroom experience.
About the Role:
As a Classroom Assistant, you will play an essential role in supporting teachers and helping pupils succeed in their learning. Your contribution will include assisting with lesson delivery, encouraging pupil engagement, and creating a nurturing, inclusive classroom atmosphere where every child can thrive.
Classroom Assistant Responsibilities:
- Support the teacher in delivering engaging and effective lessons.
- Provide individual and small-group support to pupils needing extra help.
- Assist with classroom management and positive behaviour strategies.
- Contribute to the preparation of teaching resources and classroom displays.
- Ensure pupils feel included, motivated, and safe throughout the school day.
Classroom Assistant Requirements: To be successful in this role, you should have:
- Previous experience working as a teaching assistant or in a similar capacity, supporting children in a classroom environment, is essential.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively engage with pupils and staff.
- Ability to build rapport with children and create a safe, supportive learning environment.
- A positive, proactive attitude and the ability to adapt to a busy classroom setting.
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
- Recent graduates and those seeking school-based experience before pursuing teacher training are strongly encouraged to apply
