Salary: £13.68 - £16.12 per hour (Depending on experience)

GSL Education are currently welcoming applications for a Special Needs Care Worker to become part of a dynamic school in Poole. In this rewarding role, you will support children with special educational needs, helping them feel safe, understood, and included in the classroom. You will work closely with teachers and support staff to provide personalised care and guidance. Your patience, kindness, and dedication will play a key role in helping each child grow in confidence and succeed in their learning journey.
Responsibilities:
- Provide personal care and support to students with a variety of special needs.
- Assist with mobility, feeding, and hygiene tasks as required, ensuring students' dignity and well-being at all times.
- Support students in the classroom, assisting with their learning and enabling them to participate in activities alongside their peers.
- Develop positive relationships with students, offering emotional support and promoting positive behaviour.
- Work alongside teaching staff and other professionals to implement individual care plans and support strategies.
- Monitor students’ progress and report any concerns regarding their health, behaviour, or well-being to appropriate staff.
- Ensure all safeguarding protocols are followed and contribute to creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for all students.
- Maintain accurate records of students’ needs and the support provided.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a care or support role, preferably working with children or young people who have special educational needs or disabilities, is desirable.
- A compassionate, patient, and understanding approach to working with vulnerable students.
- Ability to assist with personal care tasks and respond to the specific needs of students in a respectful and empathetic manner.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
- A clear understanding of safeguarding procedures and child protection policies.
- Relevant qualifications in care, education, or a related field are advantageous but not essential.
- Have an updated CV and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
