GSL Education are seeking a committed and empathetic SEN Teaching Assistant to work in a welcoming and well-resourced setting in Bovington, starting immediately on a permanent, full-time basis.
About the Role:
As a Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in ensuring all learners have access to a tailored, supportive, and inclusive education. You will work closely with teaching staff, SENCOs, and external professionals to deliver targeted support to pupils with a range of needs, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and moderate to complex learning difficulties.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting individual students or small groups, both in and out of the classroom.
- Implementing individualised support strategies and education plans.
- Encouraging engagement, confidence, and independence in learning.
- Monitoring pupil progress and maintaining accurate records.
- Creating a calm, structured, and positive learning environment.
- Supporting students with personal care and sensory needs, where required.
Job Requirements:
- Experience working with individuals with SEN, disabilities, or complex needs.
- Understanding of Autism, ADHD and SEMH needs and how to implement effective support strategies.
- Knowledge of communication techniques such as PECS, Makaton, or alternative communication methods (desirable but not essential).
- Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (preferred but not mandatory).
- Strong empathy, patience and resilience in managing behavioural and emotional challenges.
- University students and fresh graduates are encouraged to apply – this is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in SEN education.
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
