GSL Education are seeking a dedicated and resilient Behaviour Support Assistant to join a specialist provision in Wareham, starting immediately on a permanent, full-time basis. This role is offering a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference in students' lives.
About the Role:
As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will work alongside experienced teachers, SEN staff, and pastoral teams to deliver structured interventions and support to students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. You will provide both academic and behavioural support, helping students overcome barriers to learning in a positive, therapeutic environment.
Your Responsibilities will be to:
- Supporting pupils with behavioural and emotional challenges in the classroom and during structured interventions.
- Promoting positive behaviour strategies and de-escalation techniques.
- Building strong, trusting relationships with students and acting as a consistent role model.
- Working closely with teaching staff and the wider inclusion team to implement behaviour management plans.
- Supporting students to develop self-regulation, social skills, and resilience.
- Maintaining a safe, nurturing, and structured environment at all times.
What We’re Looking For:
- Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, behavioural needs, or in alternative provisions.
- Strong interpersonal skills and emotional resilience.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage difficult situations effectively.
- A trauma-informed and child-centred approach to support.
- Flexibility, patience, and a positive, team-oriented attitude.
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
