GSL Education are currently recruiting for a dedicated Autism Support Worker to join a nurturing and forward-thinking educational setting in Southbourne. This is a full-time, permanent opportunity with an immediate start.

About the Role


As an Autism Support Worker, you will be a vital part of a collaborative support team, providing consistent, person-centred support to children and young people with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC). Your role will involve encouraging independence, fostering social communication, and ensuring a safe and structured learning environment.

Essential Qualities That We Are Looking For:

  • Providing one-to-one or small group support to students with autism.
  • Assisting in the implementation of individual education and behavioural plans.
  • Supporting students both inside and outside the classroom to develop life skills.
  • Promoting a calm, engaging, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Liaising closely with teaching staff, therapists, and families to ensure continuity of care and support.
  • Encouraging independence and confidence in all learning and social settings..

The Successful Candidate Will:

  • Experience supporting individuals with autism or other special educational needs.
  • A calm, empathetic, and patient approach to supporting students.
  • A genuine passion for improving outcomes for neurodiverse young people.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Relevant qualifications in Health & Social Care, Psychology, or SEN support are desirable but not essential.
  • Have an updated CV (with two relevant references from the last two years and covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
