Salary: £13.68 – £16.12 per hour (Depending on Experience)

GSL Education are looking to appoint a committed and caring Learning Support Assistant to join a friendly and inclusive school in Christchurch. This is a rewarding role where you will support students who may require tailored guidance, helping them succeed in their academic and social development. You’ll be working closely with teachers to give students the help they need. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys working with children and wants to make a positive impact.
Responsibilities of the role:
- Provide in-class support to students across various subjects and age groups.
- Work with individuals or small groups to reinforce learning and encourage engagement.
- Help pupils stay focused, understand tasks, and complete their work.
- Assist the teacher with lesson preparation and classroom management.
- Offer emotional and social support to students where needed.
- Contribute to creating a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment.
- Monitor and record pupil progress and feedback to teaching staff.
- Support the implementation of learning strategies tailored to individual needs.
- Encourage good behaviour and help manage any challenges calmly.
- Assist with transitions between classroom activities and school routines.
Requirements of the role:
- A degree in Psychology, Education or a similar field.
- Relevant qualifications such as CACHE Level 2/3 or NVQ Level 2/3 in Childcare or Teaching Assistance are preferred.
- Experience working with children or young people in any educational or care capacity as a Learning Support Assistant or similar is desirable.
- A positive, patient, and adaptable approach to working with children.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
