Job description

The Classroom Teacher will carry out the duties set out in the School Teachers' Pay and Conditions Document. This includes delivering high-quality teaching, upholding the school’s vision and values, and contributing to a culture of high expectations and continuous improvement. The role is accountable to the school leadership and contributes to whole-school priorities.

Key Duties and Expectations

  • Set challenging targets based on prior attainment

  • Track and report pupil progress regularly

  • Use assessments to inform planning and evaluate effectiveness

  • Ensure all pupils are supported to reach their full potential

Teaching and Curriculum

  • Deliver high-quality, well-structured lessons

  • Demonstrate strong curriculum knowledge and adapt teaching to meet pupils’ needs

  • Promote a love of learning and reflective practice

  • Engage pupils through creative and differentiated approaches

  • Plan and assess effectively using both formative and summative strategies

Behaviour and Safety

  • Establish a positive, respectful, and safe learning environment

  • Set high expectations for behaviour and use consistent strategies to support this

  • Actively contribute to a calm, supportive school culture

  • Ensure safeguarding responsibilities are met

Professional Development and Conduct

  • Take ownership of professional development, including responding to feedback

  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues and use specialist support when appropriate
