Pastoral Officer
Location: Chesterfield
Salary: £96 - £100 Per Day (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Type: Day-to-Day / Long Term, Full-time / Part-time

GSL Education are currently recruiting a dedicated Pastoral Officer to join schools in the Chesterfield area.
This vital role focuses on supporting pupils’ personal, emotional, and social development, helping them to thrive in an educational setting. The position is ideal for individuals who are empathetic, proactive, and experienced in handling pastoral concerns and SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) support.
Responsibilities of a Pastoral Officer:
- Provide day-to-day pastoral care for students across the school
- Offer emotional support and guidance to pupils experiencing challenges
- Liaise with staff, parents, and external professionals to ensure coordinated support
- Assist in managing behaviour and promoting positive student engagement
- Support students with transitions, attendance, and reintegration
- Help design and deliver pastoral intervention programmes and wellbeing sessions
- Uphold school safeguarding policies and contribute to a safe and inclusive school culture
Pastoral Officer Requirements:
- Previous experience in a pastoral officer, support, or behavioural role within a school setting
- Strong understanding of SEMH needs and related support strategies
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Must be a driver for travel between school sites (if required)
- Calm, resilient, and solution-focused approach
- Relevant training or qualifications in pastoral care or safeguarding is advantageous
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one
