Full Time RE Teacher – Portsmouth, Hampshire

A vibrant secondary school in Portsmouth is looking for a passionate and knowledgeable Religious Education (RE) Teacher to join their team full-time from September 2025. Whether you're a newly qualified teacher or bring years of experience, this role offers a supportive and engaging environment where you can make a lasting impact. Pay is competitive, £30,000 to £50,000 per annum, based on experience. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a school tour, providing a first-hand look at the school’s welcoming environment before moving on to a formal interview. Interviews will be scheduled in the coming weeks.

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver dynamic and thought-provoking RE lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.
  • Encourage open discussion, critical thinking, and respect for diverse beliefs.
  • Plan and assess lessons to meet curriculum standards and student needs.
  • Promote inclusion and celebrate cultural and religious diversity.
  • Take part in school events, parent meetings, and professional development opportunities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the humanities curriculum.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Strong subject knowledge in Religious Education and a passion for teaching.
  • Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
  • Ability to engage and motivate students of varying abilities.
  • Early Career Teachers (ECTs) and experienced educators are welcome to apply.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
