Job Title: Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)
Location: Basildon
Salary Range: £90-£130 per day (Depending on Experience)
Start Time: September 2025
Contract: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

Do you have the skills and initiative to support, lead, and inspire within a primary classroom setting? GSL Education are recruiting a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a welcoming and progressive primary school in Basildon from September 2025.
About the Role:
As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing learning across the school. Working in close collaboration with class teachers, you will provide high-quality support for pupils across EYFS, Key Stage 1 and/or Key Stage 2. This role may include planning and delivering pre-set lessons, leading small group interventions, and providing cover when required.
Your Role Will Include:
- Lead learning activities across the primary age range, including whole-class cover when required.
- Support the implementation of tailored interventions to raise attainment in literacy, numeracy and social development.
- Assist teachers in preparing differentiated resources and assessing pupil progress.
- Provide one-to-one support for pupils with additional learning needs or EHCPs.
- Maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment that supports all learners.
- Uphold safeguarding standards and promote pupils' well-being throughout the school day.
Job Requirements:
- HLTA status or significant classroom experience as a Teaching Assistant with the ability to deliver lessons.
- Experience supporting pupils across EYFS, KS1 and/or KS2 within a primary school setting.
- Excellent communication, initiative, and classroom management skills.
- Confidence in delivering planned lessons independently and adapting to pupil needs.
- Strong emotional resilience and the ability to manage challenging situations with care.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
