Job Title: Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)
Location: Grays
Salary Range: £90-£130 per day (Depending on Experience)
Start Time: September 2025
Contract: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

GSL Education are currently recruiting a dedicated and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant for a thriving and inclusive primary school in Grays. The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers to support and lead learning, deliver planned lessons, and run small group interventions across Key Stages 1 and 2. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in pupil development and school life.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Deliver planned lessons to groups or whole classes in the absence of the teacher.
  • Support teaching staff in creating resources, planning, and assessing pupil progress.
  • Lead targeted interventions for pupils who require additional support in literacy, numeracy, or social development.
  • Supervise and manage behaviour effectively, maintaining a positive learning environment.
  • Support pupils with varying needs, including SEN, EAL, and those with behavioural challenges.
  • Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and contribute to reporting.
  • Build strong working relationships with pupils, staff, and parents/carers.

Job Requirements:

  • HLTA status or equivalent qualification (essential).
  • Proven experience supporting learning in a UK primary school setting.
  • Strong understanding of the Key Stages 1 and 2 national curriculum.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to confidently manage a class and maintain a purposeful learning environment.
  • A proactive, flexible, and positive approach to teaching support.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
