Secondary Teaching Assistant – Doncaster
Location: Doncaster, South Yorkshire
Salary: £85 – £100 per day
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Type: Full-time / Part-time

Are you passionate about supporting young people and helping them thrive in a secondary school setting? GSL Education is currently seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Secondary Teaching Assistants to work in schools across Doncaster. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the academic and personal development of students aged 11–16.

Key Responsibilities of a Secondary Teaching Assistant:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to help students remain engaged and progress in their learning.

  • Assist classroom teachers in delivering differentiated and inclusive lessons.

  • Support students with special educational needs (SEN), behavioural challenges, or additional learning needs.

  • Foster a positive and respectful classroom environment.

  • Encourage student participation, independence, and confidence.

  • Supervise pupils during breaks, lunchtimes, and school-based activities as needed.

Requirements for a Secondary Teaching Assistant:

  • Experience working with secondary-aged students (in schools, tutoring, or youth-focused settings).

  • A good understanding of SEN, Autism, ADHD, and behaviour management strategies is desirable.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • A calm, patient, and proactive approach to supporting young people.

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team or independently when required.

  • An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
