Job Title: SEN Learning Support
Location: Totton
Salary Range: £13.68 - £14.88 per hour (Depending on Experience)
Start Time: Immediate
Contract: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

GSL Education are recruiting for an SEN Learning Support to work in a specialist SEN school in Totton that caters to pupils aged 4–19 with a range of complex needs. These include Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges, Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), and sensory processing difficulties. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers, therapists, and behaviour specialists to ensure students receive consistent, personalised support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and group support tailored to students’ EHCPs (Education, Health and Care Plans).
- Facilitate access to learning through adapted resources, alternative communication, and structured routines.
- Support social, emotional and behavioural development through positive reinforcement techniques.
- Encourage independence and life skills through consistent, supportive interactions.
- Participate in curriculum delivery across key stages, from early years to post-16.
- Liaise with multidisciplinary teams, including therapists and family members.
- Assist with sensory regulation, personal care, and mobility support where required.
- Maintain pupil records, track progress and contribute to annual reviews.
Job Requirements:
- Experience working in an SEN setting or with children who have additional needs is preferred.
- A strong understanding of Autism, SEMH, and communication needs.
- Resilient, patient and calm when faced with challenging behaviours or high emotional needs.
- Ability to build trusting relationships with vulnerable learners.
- Excellent teamworking and communication skills with a positive outlook.
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
