GSL Education are recruiting a dedicated and compassionate SEN Learning Support professional to work within a specialist educational setting in Winchester. The school supports children and young people with a range of complex learning needs, including Autism, SEMH, sensory impairments, and speech and language difficulties.

About the Role:

The role involves providing consistent classroom and pastoral support to pupils, helping them access a broad and tailored curriculum. You will be working closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to implement individual support strategies tailored to pupils' EHCPs and pastoral requirements.  

Your Role Will Include:

  • Deliver personalised learning support to students on a 1:1 and small group basis.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and support staff to implement EHCP targets effectively.
  • Help students develop key life skills, academic abilities, and social communication.
  • Support classroom organisation, behaviour regulation strategies, and sensory integration activities.
  • Assist with personal care needs and mobility routines where appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate progress records and provide feedback to teaching and pastoral teams.
  • Create a nurturing and structured learning environment that promotes pupil well-being.

Job Requirements:

  • Previous experience in a similar SEN support role is highly desirable.
  • Understanding of special educational needs, including ASD, SEMH, and MLD/SLD.
  • A calm, patient, and encouraging approach, with the ability to adapt to individual pupil needs.
  • Team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong emotional resilience and the ability to manage challenging situations with care.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
