GSL Education are inviting applications for an Academic Support Assistant to join a welcoming primary mainstream school in Winchester. This is a fantastic opportunity to support pupils’ learning and development in a welcoming mainstream primary school environment.
About the Role:
As an Academic Support Assistant, you will play a key role in fostering a supportive and engaging learning environment. Working closely with teachers and SEN staff, you will provide targeted academic support, assist with classroom activities, and help students build confidence in their learning journey.
Responsibilities of the Academic Support:
- Assist class teachers in delivering lessons and supporting pupils' academic progress.
- Provide one-to-one or small group support to pupils needing additional help.
- Help prepare and organise classroom resources and learning materials.
- Encourage positive behaviour and participation among pupils.
- Support pupils with varying learning needs to ensure inclusive education.
- Monitor pupil engagement and provide feedback to teaching staff.
Requirements of the Academic Support: To be considered for this role, you must have:
- Previous experience working with children in an educational, tutoring, or support capacity is desirable.
- A strong academic background and a passion for helping children succeed.
- Ability to engage and motivate young learners in an educational setting.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Recent graduates and those seeking school-based experience before pursuing teacher training are strongly encouraged to apply
- A proactive and adaptable approach to supporting learning in a dynamic school environment.
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
