GSL Education are currently recruiting for a Pupil’s Assistant to join a mainstream primary school in Gosport. This is a full-time role that offers hands-on classroom experience, supporting children’s learning and development. Whether you're exploring a future in teaching or simply enjoy working with children, this role will provide you with valuable exposure to the primary education setting.

Pupil’s Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils with their daily learning tasks under the direction of the class teacher.
  • Work with individuals and small groups to reinforce understanding and promote engagement.
  • Assist in managing pupil behaviour in a positive and constructive manner.
  • Prepare classroom materials and assist in general administrative tasks.
  • Encourage pupil participation, independence, and social interaction.
  • Provide support for pupils with additional needs or learning difficulties.

Pupil’s Assistant Requirements: To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • A relevant qualification, such as a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent, is desirable. A background in child development, education, or similar fields will also be considered.
  • Previous experience working as a teaching assistant or in a similar capacity, supporting children in a classroom environment, is essential.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively engage with pupils and staff.
  • Ability to build rapport with children and create a safe, supportive learning environment.
  • A positive, proactive attitude and the ability to adapt to a busy classroom setting.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
  • Recent graduates and those seeking school-based experience before pursuing teacher training are strongly encouraged to apply
