Teacher of History
Location: York, North Yorkshire
Start Date: September 2025
Salary: MPS/UPS:
£31,650 - £49,084 per annum

Contract Type: Full Time, Permanent

GSL Education are seeking a Teacher of History for a thriving Secondary school in York, North Yorkshire, starting in September 2025.

Teacher of History Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging lessons that align with the national curriculum or exam board specifications.
  • Use a variety of teaching strategies to make the subject matter interesting and accessible.
  • Maintain discipline and create a positive learning environment.
  • Set high expectations which inspire, motivate and challenge pupils.
  • Promote good progress and outcomes by pupils.
  • Stay up-to-date with developments in the subject of History.
  • Manage behaviour effectively to ensure a safe and inclusive learning environment.

Teacher of History Requirements:

  • A recognised teaching qualification (QTS or equivalent).
  • Experience teaching History at secondary level, including examination classes.
  • A strong and comprehensive knowledge of history, including current events and developments.
  • A strong understanding of current pedagogical best practices and enthusiasm for their subject.
  • Have a commitment to ongoing personal development and training.
  • Hold an enhanced Child Workforce DBS registered with the update service or be willing to apply a for a new one through GSL Education.
