GSL Education are inviting applications for a School Care Worker to join a specialist SEN school in Bovington. This is a full-time, permanent position with an immediate start, offering an enriching and supportive work environment.

Role Overview:

As a School Care Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including Autism, Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), and complex medical needs. Your role will focus on both educational and personal care support, ensuring each pupil is allowed to thrive in a safe, respectful, and nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and group care support to pupils during the school day.
  • Assist with personal care tasks such as feeding, toileting, and hygiene needs.
  • Promote engagement and interaction during classroom and therapy activities.
  • Implement behaviour and communication strategies tailored to individual needs.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists, and healthcare professionals.
  • Maintain accurate records of support provided and report any safeguarding concerns.

Job Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young adults with SEND, particularly those with physical, sensory, or behavioural needs.
  • Confidence in assisting with personal care and manual handling (training can be provided).
  • An understanding of safeguarding procedures and child protection.
  • Compassionate, patient, and resilient approach to supporting vulnerable learners.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).

What does GSL Education Offer?

  • Enjoy an hourly pay of £12.82 - £14.72, depending on your experience and qualifications.
  • Access to training and professional development tailored to SEN care.
  • Long-term placement with opportunity for progression within a specialist setting.
  • Dedicated consultant support throughout your placement.

If you’re ready to take the next step in your support career within a nurturing SEN environment, we would love to hear from you.

Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks; including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
