Job Title: Special Needs Care Worker
Location: Weymouth
Salary: £13.68 - £16.12 per hour (Depending on experience)

GSL Education are working in collaboration with a specialist SEN school in Weymouth to appoint a Special Needs Care Worker to support pupils with a wide range of additional needs in a school environment. This full-time, permanent role is available for an immediate start.
Role Overview:
As a Special Needs Care Worker, you will play a critical role in ensuring the comfort, safety, and engagement of children and young people with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD), autism, sensory impairments, and physical disabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assisting with daily personal care routines, including toileting, feeding, dressing, and hygiene.
- Supporting students with mobility and physical needs, including use of hoists and wheelchair assistance.
- Monitoring medical needs and implementing health care plans as directed by the school nurse.
- Encouraging student engagement in sensory and educational activities.
- Supporting pupils during transitions, breaks, and lunchtime routines.
- Maintaining a safe and nurturing environment where every student feels valued and supported.
Job Requirements:
- Previous experience in care, healthcare, or special educational needs settings is essential.
- Familiarity with supporting individuals with complex medical or behavioural needs.
- A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to working with children and young people with high levels of need.
- Confident in manual handling and personal care duties (training can be provided).
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
