Secondary Specialist Teaching and Learning Assistant
Location: Chesterfield
Salary: £95 - £110 Per Day (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: ASAP
Working Hours: 37 hours per week
Contract Type: Day-to-Day / Long Term, Full-time / Part-time

GSL Education are looking for a committed and proactive Secondary Specialist Teaching and Learning Assistant to join a dedicated team supporting secondary-aged pupils in Chesterfield.
About the Role:
In this rewarding role, you will support pupils who have a range of behavioural and educational needs, including ASD, ADHD, ODD, and SEMH. Working as part of a small and experienced team, your contribution will help ensure a smooth-running learning environment where students can thrive.
Secondary Specialist Teaching and Learning Assistant Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 or small group academic and emotional support
- Assist teachers with behaviour management and learning strategies
- Support with planning and delivery of lessons across various subjects
- Cover short-term staff absences by stepping up to lead group sessions
- Encourage positive behaviour and foster emotional resilience in students
- Communicate effectively with staff, pupils, and parents where appropriate
- Uphold school policies and contribute to a nurturing, safe environment
Requirements for Secondary Specialist Teaching and Learning Assistant:
- School-based experience as a Secondary Specialist Teaching and Learning Assistant is essential
- Must be a driver with access to a vehicle and business insurance, this role is based on Mileage Paid
- Knowledge and experience in working with students with SEN, particularly SEMH, ASD, ADHD, and ODD
- CACHE Level 2 or 3 / NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare or Teaching Assistant (desirable)
- Calm, adaptable, and confident in managing challenging behaviour
- Enthusiastic, professional, and dedicated to inclusion
- An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willing to apply for one)
