Salary Range: £13.68 - £14.88 per hour (Depending on Experience)

Contract: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

GSL Education are welcoming applications for SEN Learning Support staff to work in inclusive and nurturing schools across Totton. This is a rewarding opportunity for candidates who are passionate about education and dedicated to helping children overcome barriers to learning.
About the Role:
As an SEN Learning Support professional, you will assist pupils who have complex needs including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges, and Speech, Language and Communication Difficulties (SLCD). You will work alongside teachers and SENCOs to implement structured, personalised interventions and ensure every learner has the support needed to thrive.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver targeted support to pupils on a one-to-one or small-group basis, promoting engagement and access to learning.
- Support the implementation of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) through tailored strategies.
- Foster positive relationships with students, encouraging emotional wellbeing and confidence.
- Assist with classroom management and behaviour regulation using trauma-informed practices.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists, and pastoral teams to promote inclusion.
- Monitor progress and report on individual pupils’ achievements and areas of concern.
Job Requirements:
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEN is highly advantageous.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with pupils, staff, and families.
- Knowledge of SEN strategies and the ability to adapt to diverse learning styles.
- An empathetic, calm, and proactive approach to managing behaviour and supporting learning.
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., in Education, Psychology, Youth Work) are desirable.
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
