GSL Education are currently seeking committed and enthusiastic candidates to undertake SEN Learning Support roles within primary and secondary settings across Winchester. This position is ideal for individuals who are passionate about inclusion and have the emotional intelligence and resilience to support pupils with a diverse range of learning and behavioural needs.

About the Role:

As a member of the SEN support staff, you will play a key role in enabling access to education for pupils with Special Educational Needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties, and specific learning disabilities. You will be working closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to implement individual support strategies tailored to pupils' EHCPs and pastoral requirements.  

Your Role Will Include:

  • Provide consistent one-to-one or small-group support to learners with additional needs.
  • Promote engagement and participation in class activities by modifying tasks and managing behaviours.
  • Build strong relationships with pupils to support emotional regulation and social development.
  • Assist in the implementation and tracking of individualised support plans.
  • Maintain accurate records of interventions and report concerns in line with safeguarding protocols.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider school team to ensure inclusive practices are upheld.

Job Requirements:

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN is highly desirable.
  • A nurturing, non-judgmental, and adaptable approach to support and classroom engagement.
  • Knowledge of SEND strategies, safeguarding procedures, and positive behaviour support.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • A recognised qualification in education, psychology, youth work or childcare is beneficial.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
