Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant (Early Years Support Worker Background)
Location: Tonbridge
Salary: £88.94 per day
Start: Immediate
Contract: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

GSL Education are thrilled to offer an opportunity for a caring SEN Teaching Assistant in Tonbridge who can bring their early years’ experience into an SEN school setting and provide tailored support to children with diverse needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support children aged 3–7 with SEN, especially those with developmental delays, speech and language needs, or ASD.
  • Deliver play-based and sensory learning to encourage communication, emotional regulation, and independence.
  • Work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and therapists to implement Education Health Care Plans (EHCPs).
  • Assist with classroom activities, transitions, and personal care routines in a respectful and supportive manner.
  • Provide feedback on progress and help maintain a positive, inclusive learning environment.
  • Use your early years knowledge to support social interaction and personal development.

Requirements:

  • Experience as an Early Years Support Worker or in a nursery/childcare setting.
  • Understanding of early childhood development and SEN strategies.
  • A calm, empathetic, and proactive approach to working with children.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • A relevant childcare/SEN qualification is desirable. Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
