Location: Hull
Rate: £90 to £115 per day (Depending on experience)
Contract Type: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

About the Role
As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students who face social, emotional, and mental health challenges. Working closely with teachers and pastoral staff, you will help create a safe, inclusive, and structured learning environment. Your role will involve delivering targeted interventions, promoting emotional regulation, and encouraging positive behaviour and engagement in learning.
Key Responsibilities of SEMH Teaching Assistant (SEMH TA)
- Support Individual Needs: Work one-on-one or in small groups with students to provide tailored emotional and behavioural support.
- Promote Positive Behaviour: Use de-escalation techniques and behaviour management strategies to support students in managing their emotions and actions.
- Collaborate with Staff: Work alongside teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams to implement personalised support plans and monitor progress.
- Encourage Engagement: Help students re-engage with learning by building trust, offering encouragement, and celebrating achievements.
- Safeguard and Support: Maintain a safe and supportive environment, ensuring the wellbeing of all students and adhering to safeguarding protocols.
- Liaise with Professionals: Work with external agencies and professionals to ensure a holistic approach to student support.
Requirements of SEMH Teaching Assistant (SEMH TA)
- Previous experience supporting students with SEMH needs or in a similar role.
- A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to working with young people.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain composed in challenging situations.
- Relevant qualifications or training in SEMH, behaviour management, or education are desirable.
