SEMH Behaviour Mentor
Location: Wakefield (WF4)
Salary: £90 - £110 per day (Depending on Experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-Day / Long Term, Full-time / Part-time

GSL Education are seeking a dedicated and experienced SEMH Behaviour Mentor to work in schools across Wakefield (WF4). This is an exciting opportunity for individuals who thrive in supportive environments and are motivated to help students overcome barriers to learning.

About the Role:

As an SEMH Behaviour Mentor, you will play a vital role in helping young people regulate their emotions, improve their behaviour, and re-engage with learning. You will work closely with teachers, SEN staff, and other professionals to create tailored support strategies for students facing emotional and behavioural challenges.

SEMH Behaviour Mentor Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group mentoring support to students with SEMH needs
  • Implement behaviour support plans and strategies to promote positive behaviour
  • Act as a positive role model and build trusting relationships with students
  • De-escalate challenging behaviour using appropriate interventions and support
  • Collaborate with teachers and SEN teams to monitor student progress
  • Promote a safe and inclusive learning environment for all pupils

Job Requirements for SEMH Behaviour Mentor:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs as a SEMH Behaviour Mentor is essential.
  • A strong understanding of behavioural and emotional support strategies
  • Patience, empathy, and a calm, firm approach to behaviour management
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for a new one
