Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant - Performing Arts Specialist

Salary: £88.94 per day
Start: Immediate
Contract: Day-to-Day/Long-Term, Full-time/Part-time

GSL Education are currently recruiting for a creative and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant with experience as a Performing Arts teacher to join a specialist school in Tonbridge. This is an exciting opportunity to utilise your artistic background in a role that inspires and empowers students with diverse learning needs.

About the Role:

As a Performing Arts-based SEN TA, you will support pupils across a range of needs, including ASD, SEMH, and communication difficulties. Your role will involve integrating performance-based strategies into day-to-day support, encouraging self-expression, social development, and emotional wellbeing through creative learning techniques.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging 1:1 and small group support using performance and movement-based activities.
  • Assist the class teacher in implementing creative and inclusive lesson plans.
  • Use drama, dance, music, or movement to enhance pupil engagement and learning outcomes.
  • Provide consistent emotional and behavioural support throughout the day.
  • Maintain accurate records of pupil progress and behaviour in line with school policies.
  • Collaborate with teaching and support staff to meet individual learning plans.

Job Requirements:

  • Previous experience in an SEN or mainstream educational setting (desirable).
  • A background in teaching or studying Performing Arts.
  • Understanding of various Special Educational Needs conditions, including autism and ADHD etc.
  • Patience, adaptability and a genuine commitment to supporting students' growth.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
