Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant - Drama Specialist
Location: Tonbridge
Salary: £88.94 per day
Start: Immediate
Contract: Day-to-Day/Long-Term, Full-time/Part-time
Are you a qualified Drama Teacher or experienced drama practitioner looking to make a meaningful impact in SEN education?
GSL Education are currently recruiting for a vibrant and engaging SEN Teaching Assistant in Tonbridge to support pupils in a specialist setting. The ideal candidate will have a background in drama and be confident in using creative approaches to engage learners with a range of additional needs.
About the Role:
As an SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA), you will be working closely with pupils who require additional support due to learning, emotional, or behavioural needs. Your drama background will be key in helping students build confidence, improve communication, and express themselves through creative channels.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support students with SEN needs in their learning and personal development.
- Use creative drama-based methods to enhance emotional and educational development.
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to help students achieve their full potential.
- Foster a structured and nurturing learning environment tailored to student needs.
- Encourage positive behaviour management and social engagement.
- Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to adapt learning strategies.
- Support students with daily routines, emotional regulation, and communication skills.
Job Requirements:
- Must have previous experience as a Drama Teacher or drama practitioner.
- Experience working with children with SEN, ideally in a school or specialist setting.
- A strong understanding of Autism, ADHD, SEMH, and other learning difficulties.
- Patience, resilience, and a caring nature to support students’ unique learning journeys.
- Excellent communication skills to work effectively with staff, students, and parents.
- Ability to adapt teaching strategies to suit individual learning needs.
- A Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable but not essential).
- Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
