Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant (Drama Background)
Location: Ashford
Salary: £88.94 per day
Start: Immediate
Contract: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

GSL Education seeks a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) with a background in drama to join a supportive educational setting in Ashford.

This role offers the opportunity to engage students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) through creative and expressive methods, helping them develop confidence and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Integrate drama techniques into daily activities to support students' learning and emotional development.
  • Provide tailored support to students with various SEN, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
  • Collaborate with teachers and therapists to develop and implement individualised education plans (IEPs).
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment, encouraging student participation and engagement.
  • Assist with classroom management and support students during transitions and activities.
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to the educational team and parents.

Requirements:

  • Background in drama or performing arts, with a passion for creative education.
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN, either in educational or care settings.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and staff.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 3, SEN TA training) are desirable.
  • Patience, empathy, and adaptability to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
