Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant (Performing Arts Background)
Location: Ashford
Salary: £88.94 per day
Start: Immediate
Contract: Day-to-day/Long-term, Part-time/Full-time

GSL Education are thrilled to offer an exciting opportunity for a motivated SEN Teaching Assistant with a background in performing arts to join our flexible team in Ashford.

This role offers the opportunity to utilise your creative talents to support students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), fostering their confidence and communication skills through the arts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Integrating performing arts techniques into daily learning to enhance student engagement and expression.
  • Providing tailored support to students with various SEN, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
  • Collaborating with educators and therapists to develop and implement individualised education plans (IEPs).
  • Creating a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment, encouraging student participation and creativity.
  • Monitoring and documenting student progress, contributing to ongoing assessments and support strategies.

Requirements:

  • Background in performing arts, with a passion for creative education.
  • Experience working with children or young people, preferably in an educational or care setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and staff.
  • Patience, empathy, and adaptability to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Willingness to undergo enhanced background checks, as required for working with children and vulnerable adults.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 3, SEN TA training) are desirable.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
